Property was staked to cover a gossan in 2015 with initial rock sampling results up to 6% Cu, 3.5g/t Au and 124g/t Ag.
A granitic intrusion is mapped just to the south which may be the causative porphyry for skarn-style mineralization on the property.
Future work is planned which aims to prove the continuity of skarn- and porphyry-style mineralization between the various historic sampling sites.
Initial sampling over a gossan located on the property returned rock results up to 6.0% Cu, 3.5g/t Au, and 124g/t Ag. A single 22m trench was oriented over part of the gossan in 2016 and returned an interval of 22m of 0.33% copper, including a 2m sub-interval grading 2.18% copper (16m-18m), and a separate 2m sub-interval grading 1.2g/t Au. The trench ended in mineralization and remains open in multiple directions. No additional follow up work has been completed on the project.
Analysis of Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) and European Space Agency Sentinel-2 datasets were undertaken by global image processing expert Dr. Neil Pendock from Dirt Exploration based out of Cape Town, South Africa.
By amalgamating the various spectral endmembers associated with copper deposits in the region, areas highly prospective for copper mineralization, including skarn-type mineralization, were mapped across Garfield and within the surrounding areas.
Two strong anomalies were identified over 1km and 1.5km away from the main Garfield showings. Historic rock sampling proximal to these anomalies returned up to 2.6% Cu, and 5.53% respectively – further proving up the accuracy of the analysis completed. Interestingly, the copper indicators at the newly discovered Anomaly A and B are much stronger than those displayed at the original Garfield showing, suggesting mineralization may be stronger and more prospective in these newly acquired areas.
Claims were recently staked to cover these areas identified, and the Company is reviewing other strong anomalies near to the newly expanded property which were identified by the analysis and lie on ground currently open for staking.
